Match 8 – The Rock vs John Cena (WWE Title)

Winner – John Cena

Overall – I was telling a friend the other day that I fear for this Wrestlemania being like the 25th anniversary PPV where there are high calibur matches but all were weak in the actual match, this turns out to almost be just like it and like the 25th WM, it was the Undertaker’s Streak match that saved the day

I suspect that the second Rock/Cena match wouldn’t be as alluring as last year’s WM as everyone thought it was just going to be the “Once In A Lifetime”, oh how the WWE love to play with us, not to mention I hear that Rock might get involved in the build up to Wrestlemania 30

I really think that the Undertaker’s Streak has gone on for long enough, Taker should have retired it at 20-0 but I hear that Taker was in need of some funding so they gave him this match as a jackpot for him, I watched on TV not long ago that Taker was coming to the UK on the WM Revenge Tour for the first time in 4 years, as nice is that was, he should really retire his career if he is to not do himself too much damage as he is getting quite old now

Match 6 – Kaitlyn vs Tamina (Divas Title)

Winner – Kaitlyn

Match 7 – The Rock vs CM Punk (WWE Title, Rock loose title if he is counted out or DQ’d)

Winner – The Rock

Overall – I didn’t think that this was a good PPV, it had it’s moment but as a whole, it was okay, the second Rock/Punk match wasn’t as great as the first match back at the Royal Rumble and the fact that there was only one Elimination Chamber match really angered me a little

The 6 man tag was something different, The Shield winning was something I didn’t expected but liked it, Roman Reigns really shined in that match out of the 3 members of Shield, he truly showed potential and that big spear through the wall with Shemaus was painful to watch, it was almost like a Gore Gore Gore from Rhino, it just had so much power behind it!

Anyway, the chamber match that was shown was decent, Jack Swagger winning was something I was 50/50 about, I guess they would push him eventually since he almost wanted to quit WWE from lack of use of his talents as of late, let’s hope they actually give me some serious momentum towards WrestleMania against Del Rio….

WWE RAW 1000th Episode Special

Monday 23rd July 2012

Match 1 – Sheamus & Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler & Del Rio

Winner – Team Sheamus

Match 2 – Jack Swagger vs Brodus Clay

Winner – Brodus Clay

Match 3 – Christian vs The Miz (Intercontinental Title match)

Winner – The Miz

Match 4 – Heath Slater vs Lita (And pretty much every other legend he faced over the past several weeks, No DQ and No Count-out)

Winner – Lita

Match 5 – CM Punk vs John Cena (WWE Title)

Winner – John Cena via DQ (Punk retains title)

Overall – This was quite a action packed special show, the matches didn’t really do much for the show but I think it was a very good show, so many superstars from past and present turned up from the DX reunion (All members except Chyna) to all the legends that Heath Slater fought, to AJ/Daniel’s wedding going down in flames with AJ turning out to be the next GM of RAW, The Rock returning and announcing that he will be facing the WWE champion at next year’s Royal Rumble PPV for the title and even the Undertaker returning to help Kane and having a Brothers of Destruction reunion.

Also RAW has had a new arena set-up and theme song so looks like RAW has changed almost completely, no longer a SuperShow (Thank god!), HHH and Brock Lesnar’s match at SummerSlam is now official so thats another match to the PPV. There was no Stone Cold sadly as he was apparently recovering from surgery so get well soon Steve Austin, also John Cena was the first superstar to have cashed in Money in the Bank and lost it via Big Show attacking him and then we have a possible CM Punk heel turn after he attacked The Rock after his match with Cena, alot went on in this week’s show, from this week onwards, RAW will now become a 3 hour show, let’s hope WWE know what they are doing with all this….

Winner – C.M Punk via Submission

Match 8 – The Rock vs John Cena (Once In A Lifetime Match)

Winner – The Rock

Overall – The first hour was just awful, seriously, the Sheamus/Bryan match lasted a mere 18 seconds, I wouldn’t call that a title match by a long shot and most Diva matches bore me anyway. The best matches of the night and what made this Wrestlemania special was the Jericho/Punk, Undertaker/HHH and Rock/Cena matches, they were fantastic and lived up to their hype!

With the Undertaker 20-0, he has reached another milestone in WWE history, it’s just a question of will he retire his streak or carry on…. In terms of the Rock and Cena match, the outcome was quite surprising with The Rock beating John Cena in a actual clean fight, I wonder what will happen on RAW the following day….

Match 5 – CM Punk vs Alberto Del Rio (WWE Title)

Winner – CM Punk

Match 6 – The Rock & John Cena vs The Mix & R-Truth

Winner – The Rock & John Cena

Overall – It was an alright PPV, not bad but not great, the last few matches gave some serious heat but the first half of the PPV was just a mess, the fans wanted Zack Ryder yet the match gets John Morrison. I am glad CM Punk is WWE Champion again, the guy has a bright future in the business, The Rock showed alot of strong momentum during the entire match, at first I thought Rock and Cena will just explode on each other but they maintained their trust and got the job done

Man, that was like Wrestlemania 25 all over again, most of the matches fell flat and the Undertaker/HHH match was the one that saved the PPV but then again, most of Undertaker’s WM matches were the best matches of the night. It just didn’t feel like a Wrestlemania PPV to me and I’m sure many people feel the same way. Even with the help of The Rock and Stone Cold, it just didn’t seem right in the end. Oh well…. Next time, it will be better, eh? (I wouldn’t push your luck though either)

Oh, by the way, if anyone was wondering about what happened to the Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan match for the US title, that ended up being cancelled, at first it was bumped back into a Dark Match but then when it happened, it turned out to be a sort of battle royal lumberjack match of some description, not quite sure to be honest but from what I read up, the Great Khali won it so…. good for him?
